This will be an exciting opportunity to discover up-and-coming products and new technologies. This show also offers educational sessions and opportunities to network with industry professionals. History of the Show
Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, the Northeast Swimming Pool Association (the forerunner of the Northeast Spa & Pool Association) held various seminars and tabletop trade shows as a member benefit in New York. In 1980 the show was cancelled do to a Teamsters’ strike and the NESPA board decided it would never hold another show in New York City and be subject to the whims of its unions.
It was determined the Show must stay in the Northeast and the driving forces for a refashioned show were Les Kowalsky and Al Rizzo. In 1981 a consensus for a new trade show formed and Kowalsky wanted to have the show in Atlantic City, NJ. Al Rizzo, meanwhile, wanted to explore other areas of the region, namely Hartford/Boston.
The two men were authorized by the board to investigate both ares, and the NESPA board ultimately selected Atlantic City and the rest, as it is said, is history.
